Laurel Tonkin Geelong Marriage Celebrant
A Naming Day is a day to celebrate your child with your closest family and friends. Similar to a Christening but often with no religious content. Although this can be included upon request. Ceremonies can celebrate new arrivals or older children and can include more than one child (eg multiple births, siblings).
A naming day has no legalities, it's a way of letting friends and family know what your hopes and dreams are for your child's future as well as an opportunity to declare your good intentions as their parents.
If you wish you can choose "God-parents" often referred to as mentors or supporting adults who will be there for your child throughout their life.
Every naming day is different and we can work together to create a loving and memorable ceremony. The ceremony can include poems (I have a selection you can look through), spiritual readings or rituals (eg sand ceremony, candle lighting), recognition of siblings/grandparents, introduction of chosen mentor/s, explanation of the child's name &/or anything else you may like to include.
A commemorative certificate is provided on the day, signed on the day in front of your family and friends, for parents. Extra copies can be arranged.
